Six Week Hand Building Course | Various Start Dates | Lee Studio
Cost:
£295.00 per personDuration:
2hAbout this experience
Our six week hand-building courses covers all three techniques, slab-building, coiling and pinching. We will also learn about surface decoration and glazing.
The course is suitable for beginners or intermediate makers and is structured so that each week focuses on a different technique with a lot of emphasis on time for practice and experimenting with clay. Session 5 and 6 are dedicated to glazing and painting our pieces.
What might you make? While discovering clay and experimenting with the pinching technique you could make small dishes which can become jewellery cups, tiny plants pots, small bowls, a pencil pot. When experimenting with the slab-building technique you might make a cup, a mug or a jug. With the coiling technique we can make many things such as bowl or plant pots!

About the teacher: Based in London, Lucile is an experienced primary school teacher, French potter and designer.
She fell in love with pottery by learning to throw at Crown Works studio and has been developing her style using throwing and hand building. Lucile’s love for clay was cultivated through various courses and studio set-ups in London since.
Inspired by shapes, colours and textures glimpsed during peaceful wanders in nature, Lucile loves to create a passionate community around clay, and brings this sunny energy to her classes and workshops.
What's included? We will provide all materials throughout the course, including aprons (although you are more than welcome to bring your own). All of our students use our earthenware clay, and have access to a full range of tools and glazes.
The glazing and firing of up to 6 pieces is included in the price of this course. We charge £5 per extra small pot. £10 for bigger items.
Now for the boring but important part. . .
